Polly Stenham was born in the UK and is a multi award winning playwright and screenwriter based in London.

Following her secondary education Polly spent a year traveling and working for the Ambassador Theatre Group and the Arcola Theatre. During this time she enrolled in the Royal Court Young Writers Programme and wrote her first play, That Face which premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 2007.



Following this debut, Polly was awarded the Evening Standard’s 2007 Charles Wintour Award, the Critics’ Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright and the 2007 Theatrical Management Association Award for Best New Play, for That Face.

Both her second and third plays Tusk Tusk and No Quarter premiered in the downstairs theatre at the Royal Court to great acclaim. Hotel, her fourth play debuted at the Royal National Theatre. She then went on to co-write the Hollywood film, Neon Demon starring Dakota Fanning. Currently in rehearsals with her new play, Julie set to open at the Royal National Theatre on June 1st. The play stars Vanessa Kirby.
